Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the applicable terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Kensington
- To hire a vehicle from Kensington Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though specific age requirements may vary based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the selected vehicle category, must be provided, having been held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Kensington location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may lead to extra fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Considerations
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these is beneficial. You are accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges, impacting your overall rental experience.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Use of Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits is not allowed. The transport of hazardous materials or sub-letting to unauthorized individuals is also forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight capacities, and venturing outside the agreed geographical limits without prior consent are unacceptable practices.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Kensington will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our overall liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in this region.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your agreement to the revised Terms.
